Sporting Clays, 5-Stand and FITASC Coaching
Outside of Jared’s shooting life, he is married to his beautiful wife Beth, for over 20 years, and has two children Luke and Eden. He has worked in the logistics / transportation industry for over 10 years , with employment in both private industry and federal government.
Jared was first introduced to sporting clays, in 1995, not as a shooter, but working as a trapper at a local sporting clays club. Not too long after starting his part time job as a trapper, at age 12, all the money he was earning went right back into shooting sporting clays and skeet. Then in 1996 Jared began competing in both skeet and sporting clays and has since shot over 170,000 NSCA registered targets throughout the United States. After 10 years of shooting and stagnate progress in performance at tournaments Jared scheduled his first lesson with Anthony Matarese in the summer of 2005. Three years later Jared, for the first time, earned a position on the NSCA Open All-American Team: 2009 Open All-American Third Team. For the past 20 years Jared has continued to train under Anthony and has taken over 100+ hours of lessons with Anthony. To further improve his performance, in 2019, Jared began training under Andrea Seefeldt Knight. Andrea has been a great mentor for Jared, not only in shooting, but also in business and life.
Since 2008 Jared’s desire to compete at a higher level significantly increased and he began to travel more often and farther outside of the northeast region. At that time many of Jared’s shooting buddies were not interested in shooting many tournaments especially those that were more than a day trip resulting in Jared traveling to many of the events on his own. These early days of traveling to big events on his own gave Jared invaluable experience and skill and was a great confidence booster for someone who was very shy.
Since then, Jared has gone on to form many great friendships with local competitors, along with individuals many states away. Jared would encourage those in similar situations as he was in his earlier days of competing to take the plunge, attend a tournament by themselves and pursue their dreams even if it is outside of their comfort zone.
Jared has competed in competitions in: Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Arizona, Missouri, and Colorado.
